Sheki Karavansaray

This historic inn, known locally as "Şəki xan sarayı," harks back to a time when the Silk Road thrived, and travelers from distant lands sought refuge and respite on their arduous journeys.

The structure is characterized by its massive stone walls and stout towers, which served both as a defense against external threats and as a refuge for travelers and their goods. The entrance, adorned with traditional Azerbaijani architectural motifs, exudes an air of historical grandeur.

Stepping inside, you'll be transported to a bygone era. The interior of the karavansaray is a vast courtyard surrounded by two levels of arched chambers. In its heyday, this space would have bustled with merchants, traders, and weary travelers seeking shelter for the night.

Today, the karavansaray has been lovingly restored, offering visitors a chance to explore its historical significance and architectural charm. The chambers that once housed merchants and their wares now showcase a collection of local crafts, textiles, and artifacts, providing a glimpse into Sheki's vibrant heritage.
